BIOGRAPHY

As a proven vote getter elected to the position of auditor, I am currently serving my second term as auditor of South Abington Township.

I graduated from Abington Heights School District and pursued a college education.  I have completed my coursework at Penn State University Park and am now working in Scranton. Human development is my area of focus, which, in conjunction with my understanding of fiscal responsibility provides me with a keen perspective of the needs of the community and financial obligations.

I have always been active in helping others.  Over the past years, I proudly helped raise money to contribute to THON, the largest student philanthropy in the world, supporting families of children with cancer and contributing funds to continue research to find a cure to childhood cancer.  In 2010 this organization raised $7.8 million for this cause.

Additionally,  as an organizational member I helped raise funds for Make A Wish Foundation in Centre County and provided Center County Youth Services Bureau with gifts and holiday meals for  disadvantaged children.  In Lackawanna County, I participated in the Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner at the Scranton Cultural Center.

I actively participated in sports and large organizations that helped me develop an understanding of the importance of teamwork, community and leadership. I am interested in taking my knowledge of human development, community, fiscal responsibility, teamwork and leadership to make a positive contribution and help Lackawanna County be the best it can.

PERSONAL MESSAGE

"I am running for County Commissioner of Lackawanna County for the right reasons. I believe that I can truly help the individuals of our county. I believe that with my educational background and fresh view point on issues I can really bring a fresh perspective to our county. If elected I plan to take a 10,000 dollar pay cut and would also urge my fellow commissioners to do the same. More importantly all of my attention would be devoted to this county; I would not have any financial interest in any other businesses or projects during my term so that I can properly serve our great county. I believe if elected that I can add your voice to our county and change the way we have done business in the past. So on November 8th I would be very appreciative if you would cast your vote for me, Bill Jones, thank you for your time and I hope to serve you in the future. "

-Bill Jones
